Job Title: CMM Operator

Reports to: Quality Director

Shift: 3rd Shift 10:00 P.M. to 6:30 A.M.

Must Train on 1st Shift

Job Summary:

CMM Operator is responsible for testing, documenting, troubleshooting and preparing parts for point-of-sale. Various manual and automatic gauges are using to measure and test parts. The CMM Operator will work with Team Members within the quality and production teams and is responsible for the maintenance of all gauges across our facility. The work environment is primarily within the Quality Lab.

Job Description:

Tasks:

  • Conduct a variety of gauge and CMM checks e.g. first-piece, set-up verification, prototype checks, etc.
  • Maintain, calibrate, repair, test, and troubleshoot all gauges
  • Inspect parts for nonconformance and follow the non-conforming product procedure
  • Report problems or concerns to quality and production management and actively work to resolve quality issues
  • Train and support the production and quality teams

Job Specification:

Competencies:

  • Ability to use all gauges e.g. calipers, micrometers, height stands, radius gauges, air gauges, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, thread gauges, optical comparator, hardness testing, cleanliness testing, optical scanning, CMM, etc.
  • Knowledge of heat treat verification to CQI-9 (mounting, polishing, and analysis of case depth on heat treat samples)
  • Knowledge of machining automotive components and the ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to compile and report data
  • Ability to problem solve, communicate effectively, and work in a team environment
  • Ability to convert measurements between English standard (in) and metric (mm) systems

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing setting preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Calypso, Measure Max, and PC-DMIS
  • Experience with cleanliness testing (Pall Cleanliness Testing and Jomesa Units) and optical scanning is preferred (training is available)
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis in Excel
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and time management skills with an attention to detail
